n Awareness Camp and Vaccination Drive for Brucellosis under the NADCP–FMD Component of the Centrally Sponsored Livestock Health and Disease Control Programme (LHDCP) was today organized by the Animal Husbandry Department Kargil at the Veterinary Referral Hospital, Kurbathang.Dr. Gulzar Hussain, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Kargil, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Others present on the occasion included Dr. Ghulam Mohd, Dr. M. Ibrahim, Incharge of the hospital, along with doctors, staff members, and local farmers.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Gulzar Hussain informed that the mission was launched from Drass and will continue across all blocks of the district with the aim of creating awareness among farmers about zoonotic diseases such as Brucellosis and Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD). He emphasized the importance of vaccination and early reporting to prevent the spread of such diseases and urged farmers to take full benefit of these awareness and vaccination camps where expert veterinarians are providing valuable guidance and services.
The program also highlighted the slogan — “Protect Your Livestock, Protect Your Family” — stressing that Brucellosis affects both animals and humans, causing infertility, abortion, and reduced milk yield in livestock.
