Leh 6 Oct, 2025: The Animal Husbandry Department Leh, marked World Animal Day 2025 with an event held on October 4, 2025, to emphasize the importance of animal welfare in the district. The program, held at conference hall of CAHO Leh, drew attention to the interconnectedness of animal health/ welfare and the planet’s sustainability, aligning with this year’s theme, “Save Animals, Save the Planet!”
The event was attended by Dr. Stanzin Rabgais, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Leh, along with departmental officers/ staffs, Representatives from Live to Rescue, Ms Nurzin, President, Semchan Welfare Society and its members, and Ms Diskit Angmo, Secretary, Chamba Animal Welfare Society.
In his address, Dr. Stanzin Rabgais highlighted the theme’s relevance, stating that the welfare of animals is directly linked to the health of our planet, so, safeguarding animals contributes to a more sustainable and compassionate world. During the event presentations were given by Dr. Stanzin Dorjey and Dr. Stanzin Thakchos on ongoing departmental efforts for animal welfare and modern, environmentally sustainable solutions for the care of domestic, stray and wild animals. In her address, Ms. Diskit Angmo, urged the Animal Husbandry Department and NGOs to work in unison to ensure animal welfare across the district.
The event concluded with a pledge from all stakeholders to strengthen animal welfare initiatives in the district.
