Delegation from Kalpavriksh, SLC India Trust gives presentation on goba system in Ladakh
Leh : A delegation from Royal Enfield Motorcycles under the aegis of Eicher Group Foundation called on the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, RK Mathur, at Raj Niwas today. Another delegation comprising Ashish Kothari and Shrishtee Bajpai from Kalpavriksh Environment Action Group and Dr Tsewang Namgail from Snow Leopard Conservancy-India Trust also met LG Mathur.
Vigyat Singh from Eicher Group Foundation briefed LG Mathur about the various initiatives taken by Royal Enfield Motorcycles under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) in Ladakh and the new initiative to promote responsible tourism for the benefit of the local community and tourists visiting Ladakh. He also apprised about initiatives such as extending waste segregation and management on the lines of Project Tsangda in Changthang; providing clean drinking water; providing hygienic and environment-friendly sanitation units to the tourists; providing support in setting up homestays for generating livelihood; conserving wetlands in Changathang and Nubra valley; promoting behavioural change campaigns by training local taxi drivers and guides; promoting winter tourism and providing winter tuition in remote areas of Ladakh. LG Mathur appreciated the work done by Royal Enfield as a part of their CSR initiatives.

Ashish Kothari shared the main features, key findings of the study and recommendations to strengthen the goba system in Ladakh.
