Leh: The 80th birth anniversary of His Eminence Thiksey Rinpoche Nawang Jamyang Chamba Stanzin was celebrated with great enthusiasm at the Yidga Chozin Phodang, Diskit monastery today. The ceremonial function was organised by the Diskit Cultural and Welfare Society, Diskit monastery.
H.E Thuksey Rinpoche; H.E Khensur Rinpoche of Tashi Lhunpo Monastery; eminent spiritual leaders; venerable monks of Diskit, Samling andThiksey monasteries; Dy Chairman, Tsering Angchuk accompanied by Executive Councillors, and Councillors of LAHDC Leh; BDC Chairpersons of Nubra; District and sub-divisional officers, and a large number of people from different communities and villages of Nubra region attended the celebration at Diskit monastery today.
Extending his greetings, Deputy Chairman, Tsering Angchuk praised the immense contribution of Thiksey Rinpoche in the politics and society of Ladakh, including national security and development of education. He also spoke of Rinpoche’s contribution in assisting youths by establishing an open learning centre at Thiksey where students from different backgrounds regardless of race and religion have been benefitting till date. He further requested the higher authorities with a proposal for a high recognition for H.E Thiksey Rinpoche in the future.
Speaking on the occasion, H.E Thiksey Rinpoche emphasised on unity and harmony between different communities. He added that he would strive to work collectively in promoting ethical learning for the benefit of the future generations of Ladakh. He further appreciated the organisers and the people of Nubra region for their efforts in organising the grand celebration.
Representing Balti community, Mohd Akram spoke of the immense contribution of H.E.Thiksey Rinpoche towards maintaining unity in the diverse society of Ladakh and further greeted Rinpoche on his 80th birth anniversary. He expressed his gratitude on behalf of the community for the noble services of Rinpoche towards the people of Ladakh.
Various dignitaries including H.E Thuksey Rinpoche also addressed the gathering and extended their greetings to H.E Thiksey Rinpoche on his 80th birth anniversary.
A colourful cultural program by artists from different villages of Nubra and students of Higher Secondary School, Diskit and Lamdon Model School, Diskit was presented along with a long life-offering prayer for H.E Thiksey Rinpoche at Diskit monastery.
