Leh: IITs of Bombay, Delhi and Kanpur are offering M. The selected candidates will be provided with boarding and lodging facilities at the IIT campuses.

The students who have completed or currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in sciences, engineering, and entrepreneurship from any institution can apply for these internships while Engineering Graduates from Ladakh can apply for the M tech programme for which students will be taken like sponsored students in IIT and hence Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) will not be a requirement to seek admission. Interested students can apply by filling in their application form on the portal https://academics.iitd.ac.in/srfp/. The last date for application is June 30, 2022. The selection of candidates will be announced on July 4th for short-term internship, 13th July for long-term internship and 13th July for the M.Tech program. For further queries, students can write at, [email protected].

In a first-of-its-kind opportunity, the students of Ladakh can intern for 45 days (short-term) and 6 months (long-term) at the reputed Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, Kanpur and Delhi. The internship programmes will not only give the students insight into their own interests but will also help them explore different opportunities, build their entrepreneurial skills and give them a valuable experience.

Engineering graduates from Ladakh can now pursue a postgraduate course in M. Tech at the three IITs. In order to build up their professional qualification, enhance their skill in engineering and technology, and create new paths for research and development the Engineers of Ladakh can pursue a post-graduate programme in M. Tech. Those pursuing M. Tech under the sponsored scheme shall have to sign a bond to serve the Department of Higher Education for a specified period if offered an assignment.

These programmes are being conducted as part of the ‘Expression of Interest’ signed between the Higher Education Department, UT Ladakh, and the consortium of IITs last September.
