Principal Secy reviews new infrastructural projects of Health Department

Leh: The Principal Secretary of the Health & Medical Education Department, Dr. Pawan Kotwal chaired a meeting to review new projects/DPRs of the Health Department.
Additional Secretary, Health, Dr. Iftikhar Chowdhury apprised the meeting that to provide an in-depth learning experience to medical practitioners and medical students, a DPR for Simulation Labs will be submitted soon. These realistic-looking clinical laboratories will provide hands-on training experience to medical practitioners. Working in these labs will also help improve team communication, interdisciplinary care, and patient safety.

The Director of Health, Dr. Motup Dorje informed the meeting that the tendering process for 2 Hyperbaric Oxygen Chambers to be installed at Tangste and SNM hospital Leh each is done. The Hyperbaric Oxygen Chambers will be used to treat a host of health and wellness issues.
CMO Kargil, Dr. Munawar Hussain, apprised the meeting that a proposal for an MRI machine for District Hospital Kargil will be submitted soon. Also, the DPR for the creation of a parking facility, and landscaping of Chiktan CHC will be submitted within this week, he added.

In the meeting, the Principal Secretary, Dr. Pawan Kotwal said that 31 medical institutions and staff quarters in Ladakh will be equipped with a central heating system which is a one-of-a-kind initiative in the country. Dr. Kotwal impressed upon the officials of the Health department to leave no stone unturned in utilizing funds for the procurement of medical equipment and upgrading health infrastructure to provide excellent health care facilities to the people of Ladakh.

Detailed discussions also took place on review arrangements for shifting District Hospital Kargil to the newly constructed building at Kurbathang; DPR of Zanskar Sub-District Hospital among others.
The meeting was attended by Shrikant Suse, Deputy Magistrate, Leh; Santosh Sukhadeve, Deputy Magistrate, Kargil; Dr. Iftikhar Chowdhary, Additional Secretary Health; Dr. Motup Dorje, Director of Health; Dr. Nurzin Angmo, CMO Leh; Dr. Munawar Hussain, CMO Kargil; Dr. Tsewang Chorol, Medical Superintendent, Leh; Nisar Ahmad, SE (R&B) Leh; Mahesh Kumar, Executive Engineer, CPWD; Rahul Singh, Executive Engineer, CPWD, and A.K. Bhatti, Director Planning.
