LEH : Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Nubra, Lakshay Singhal visited the project site of Training and Flood Protection of Shayok-river at the Shatsay-Taknak bridge. Councillor, Tiger constituency; Executive Engineer, SSD Nubra; Executive Engineer, Irrigation and Flood Control Division, Leh accompanied the SDM. The project is being constructed by the I&FC Division, Leh and has been a long-pending demand of the villages of Burma, Charasa, Kuri and Murgi. The representatives from these villages were also present at the site. SDM Nubra, Lakshay Singhal directed the concerned departments to timely complete the project.
LEH : Director, Animal/Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries (ASH&F) Department, UT Ladakh, Dr Mohammad Raza launched a mobile application for conducting socio-economic census in the sheep/goat sector of Leh district for the year 2022-23 during the one-day training regarding census enumeration held today. Addressing the gathering, Director, ASH&F, Dr Raza instructed the 50 field in-charges and block officers to conduct the census in a timely and orderly manner. LEH : In view of the holy month of Ramadan, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Leh, Sonam Chosjor convened a meeting with the concerned departments and stakeholders to review the Ramadan arrangements in the Leh district. ADC Leh directed the PDD and PHE departments to provide an uninterrupted supply of power and water during Ramadan in the district. LEH : Ladakh reported one fresh coronavirus case on Friday, even as the number of active cases came down to six with five more recoveries, officials said. The new COVID-19 case took the infection count to 28,223 in the Union Territory, they said. According to the officials, Ladakh has recorded 228 coronavirus-related deaths — 168 in Leh and 60 in Kargil. No fatality linked to the disease was recorded in the Union Territory on Friday, they said. Leh: Following the tragic events of June 15, many Indians heard of the Galwan River Valley in Eastern Ladakh for the first time as the site of the deadliest clash between Indian soldiers and the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) since 1975. LEH : Union Territory Ladakh will conduct a vaccine drive against cervical cancer and it will be open to all eligible women. In a press conference, Ladakh Health Principal Secretary Dr. Pawan Kotwal said three doses of vaccine to prevent cervical cancer in Ladakh will be administered to 15- 18 age groups of women. He said, cancer instances are a cause of concern along with general anemia among the women in Ladakh. KARGIL : Over 2,100 people availed the AN-32 ‘Kargil Courier’ service operated by the Indian Air Force between Kargil and the twin capital cities of Jammu and Kashmir during this winter, officials said here on Thursday. “While 275 passengers were airlifted from Kargil to Srinagar, 614 travelled on the IAF-operated service from Srinagar to Kargil,” they said. The officials said 316 passengers travelled from Kargil to Jammu and 903 passengers made the journey from Jammu to Kargil.
