KHALTSI, September 21, 2026: A two-day State-Level Archery Competition commenced today at the Cricket Ground, Khaltsi, with young archers representing seven districts of Ladakh participating in the event.
The competition is being organised by the Youth Services & Sports Department, Leh, as part of National Sports Day 2026 and Youth Engagement Month, being observed from August 29 to September 29. The event aims to promote sports, encourage youth participation and provide emerging athletes with competitive exposure at the state level.
The competition was inaugurated in the presence of Sh. Ataullah Khan, I/C SDM Khaltsi, who attended the event as Chief Guest. He appreciated the efforts of the Youth Services & Sports Department and encouraged the participating archers to perform to the best of their abilities while upholding the spirit of discipline and sportsmanship.
A total of seven teams, comprising five boys’ teams and two girls’ teams, are taking part in the competition, representing different districts of Ladakh. The tournament began at 9:00 AM on September 21 and will continue through September 22.
The event is being conducted under the supervision of Sh. Issa Ghulam, ZPEO Khaltsi, along with officials and technical staff of the Youth Services & Sports Department.
The championship seeks to identify promising archery talent from across Ladakh and provide young athletes with valuable experience in competitive sporting events.
The tournament is being organised with the support of Save the Children. Sh. Mohd Shar Bhat, Director, Save the Children, was also present at the venue and extended his support to the event and participating athletes.
The competition is part of ongoing efforts to promote archery, nurture young sporting talent and expand opportunities for youth participation in competitive sports across Ladakh.
