Kargil, November 26:
In a major push to boost infrastructure and community facilities in the remote Sangrah constituency, Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) of LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd. Jaffer Akhoon, today laid the foundation stone for a series of development projects worth several crores.

The event saw the presence of Executive Engineer R&B SVD Sankoo; Councillor Aga Syed Ahmad Razvi; Chief Patron of Anjuman-e-Sahib Zaman, Syed Mohmad Razvi (Al-Maroof Migh-e-Oud); former MLA Syed Baqir Razvi; Chairman Anjuman-e-Sahib Zaman Sheikh Sadiq Balagi; Sheikh Muslim; Sheikh Ali Mangdum; former Executive Councillor Syed Abass Razvi, and a large number of enthusiastic locals.

As part of the developmental drive, Dr. Akhoon laid the foundation stone for a new Community Hall/Reading Hall at Goma Sangrah, and the upgradation and construction of the 1st and 2nd floors of the Community Hall at Bansala Sangrah, projects that residents say were long awaited.

Addressing the gathering, the CEC described the initiatives as a “milestone in Sangrah’s developmental journey”, reaffirming LAHDC Kargil’s commitment to extending quality infrastructure and modern amenities to even the remotest pockets of the district.

He said the upcoming reading hall and library will particularly benefit students from underprivileged backgrounds by providing access to computers, internet, books, and a dedicated study space—tools that can help local youth compete at state and national levels.
“Digital connectivity and learning spaces are not privileges but necessities,” Dr. Akhoon said, emphasizing the administration’s focus on bridging educational gaps.

Highlighting the wider impact of the projects, the CEC said the upgraded community hall would become a multi-purpose hub for cultural functions, social gatherings, religious events, and awareness programmes, thereby strengthening community engagement and providing a shared space for collective decision-making.

Dr. Akhoon assured the residents that LAHDC Kargil will continue to bring new, people-centric projects to Sangrah, prioritising inclusive growth, improved living standards and sustained development across the region.
