Drass, August 12, 2026: A vibrant painting competition themed “Tiranga, My Pride” was organised at the Higher Secondary School Complex, Drass, as part of the ongoing Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, bringing together students in a celebration of patriotism, creativity and national pride.
Students from Government Degree College, Army Goodwill School, Mutahhary Public School, Higher Secondary School, Gulshan-e-Raza Public School, Government Middle School and other institutions participated enthusiastically in the competition.
The programme was attended by Deputy Commissioner Imteeaz Kacho, Tehsildar (HQ) Abdul Aziz, Principal Higher Secondary School, Deputy General Manager PGCIL-Drass Asif Amin, Naib Tehsildar (HQ) Ibrahim Khan, Director Physical Education & Sports, Government Degree College, Panchayat Inspector Nawang Tashi Tashi, along with teachers, faculty members and other officials.
Through wall paintings and artwork on paper, students expressed their interpretation of the Tricolour, patriotism, unity and national pride. Participants also explained the ideas and messages behind their artwork.
Deputy Commissioner Imteeaz Kacho interacted with the students, appreciated their creativity and added his hand-print to one of the artworks as a gesture of encouragement.
Addressing the gathering, the DC praised the students for their confidence and artistic talent and urged them to continue nurturing their abilities while maintaining a strong focus on education.
Emphasising the importance of teachers, he encouraged students to respect and trust their teachers, who play a vital role in shaping their character and future. He also urged them to develop their skills, make effective use of libraries and educational resources, and cultivate reading habits to broaden their knowledge.
The Deputy Commissioner further sensitised students about the harmful consequences of drug abuse, urging them to stay away from drugs and make healthy, constructive choices. He encouraged them to remain resilient in difficult situations, seek appropriate support when required and pursue their goals with confidence and determination.
The programme concluded with the distribution of prizes sponsored by PGCIL-Drass Deputy General Manager Asif Amin to students whose paintings were adjudged outstanding.
The event provided a platform for young students to showcase their creativity while reinforcing the values of patriotism, national unity, respect for the Tricolour and responsible citizenship.
