Kargil, October 02, 2025: The Rural Development Department (RDD), Kargil successfully organized a massive cleanliness drive on 1st and 2nd October 2025, covering all 98 Panchayats of 15 Blocks in the District.
The campaign focused on areas that usually remain unclean and witnessed enthusiastic participation of villagers, Panchayat Secretaries, Block Development Officers, volunteers and frontline workers.
This District-wide initiative was carried out as part of the ongoing Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 2025 campaign, themed “Swachhotsav”, which was observed across the country from 17th September to 2nd October 2025.
During the fortnight-long campaign, a series of programmes were organized across all Blocks of Kargil District, including:
Cleanliness and awareness drives in villages, schools and public institutions.
Shramdaan activities in markets, water bodies, religious places and other public spots.
Special Gram Sabhas dedicated to sanitation and waste management issues.
Safaimitra Suraksha activities, focusing on the safety, health and welfare of sanitation workers.
The campaign culminated on 1st and 2nd October with a visible cleanliness drive in every Panchayat of the District, reaffirming the collective resolve to keep Kargil clean and green. The drive received overwhelming community participation.
Distric Panchayat officier Kargil, Raziya Khatoon, JKAS acknowledges and appreciates the dedicated efforts of all Block Development Officers, Panchayat Secretaries, sanitation staff, and villagers, whose cooperation ensured the success of this large-scale campaign.
The Rural Development Department Kargil reaffirms its commitment to sustain the spirit of Swachhata Hi Seva and carry forward the vision of a cleaner, healthier environment.
