Kargil: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) of LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, visited village Sangrah today to interact with local residents, review ongoing development works, and understand the concerns of the community firsthand. During the visit, he also inspected various projects currently underway in the village.
Addressing the gathering, the CEC outlined the range of development initiatives being implemented in the area, including improvements in sports infrastructure, irrigation facilities, flood control, road connectivity, education, healthcare, and tourism-related infrastructure. He emphasized that these projects are designed to promote holistic and sustainable growth for the village.
Dr. Akhoon highlighted the importance of community participation to ensure the quality, transparency, and smooth execution of developmental works. He urged residents to actively participate and take full advantage of government schemes, assuring them that the administration is committed to addressing their concerns.
In a key step to strengthen local involvement, the CEC announced the formation of a village-level monitoring committee. This committee will work in coordination with relevant departments to oversee the execution of development projects and ensure accountability.
In a significant development, the CEC also proposed a new settlement plan for Sangrah. Due to recurring flood-related issues and land constraints in the existing village, adequate land will be allotted to residents for the establishment of a new settlement. The new area will be equipped with modern facilities and essential amenities, offering a safer and more sustainable living environment.
Dr. Akhoon encouraged villagers to communicate any additional developmental requirements, assuring that these will be addressed in a phased manner. He concluded by affirming his availability and commitment to resolving any issues faced by the community.
