Leh: In a landmark event aimed at strengthening science education and fostering a culture of curiosity and innovation among young learners, Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, formally launched the Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan (VVM) Brochure for the academic year 2025–26 today at Raj Niwas, Leh.
The launch ceremony was attended by key officials including Chief Secretary of UT Ladakh, Secretary of Education Bhanu Prapha, Director of School Education Tsering Paldan, Joint Director of School Education Ladakh Zakir Hussain, Chief Education Officer Leh, and State Coordinator Morup Tsewang.
Their presence underscored the collective commitment of Ladakh’s administration and educational authorities towards advancing quality science education in the region.
Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan (VVM) is a national-level program initiated by Vijnana Bharati (VIBHA) in collaboration with the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT). Designed for students from classes VI to XI, the program aims to popularize science by combining traditional Indian scientific knowledge with contemporary scientific principles.
Through this initiative, students are encouraged to develop scientific temper, critical thinking, and a problem-solving mindset that is essential for India’s emerging knowledge economy.
The VVM program includes a wide range of activities such as quizzes, interactive sessions, and talent search examinations conducted digitally, making science accessible and engaging for students across diverse geographical locations, including remote regions like Ladakh.
During the event, Lt Governor Kavinder Gupta highlighted the importance of nurturing scientific curiosity among youth as a vital step towards building a progressive and self-reliant society.
He praised the collaborative efforts of VIBHA and NCERT in making science education more inclusive and experiential. He further urged educational institutions in Ladakh to actively participate in the VVM program and integrate its objectives into their curriculum.
The launch of the VVM brochure is seen as a significant milestone in Ladakh’s educational journey, reinforcing the Union Territory’s dedication to holistic development and experiential learning.
By promoting programs like VVM, Ladakh aims to empower its students with the knowledge and skills needed to excel in scientific fields and contribute meaningfully to national progress.
The brochure distribution marks the beginning of several planned activities and campaigns under the VVM banner, which will unfold in schools across Ladakh in the coming academic year.
