Leh: The Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) Leh, along with Executive Engineer REW Ghulam Abbas, BDO Chumathang Shri Ibrahim, Junior Engineers, and other officials from the Rural Development Department, undertook a comprehensive five-day tour of Changthang Valley to assess the status of ongoing developmental works.
Beginning at Liktsey village, the inspection covered multiple key areas including Rhong, Chumathang, Hemya, Nyoma, Hanley, and Korzok. The team reviewed progress at project sites and issued directions to contractors for the timely completion of all pending works within the current financial year.
During the visit, local delegations from several villages met with the ACD and submitted development-related proposals. Many urged the department to prepare Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) that address the unique needs of their respective areas.
On the fourth day, the inspection extended to Durbuk Sub Division, covering Tsaga, Chushul, Manen, Merak, Pangong, Phobrang, Tangtse Block, and Shayok village. ACD Leh emphasized transparency, accountability, and efficient execution in all government-funded projects and instructed junior engineers to closely monitor field-level work.
Commending the department’s dedication, the ACD noted that a significant portion of this year’s funds had already been utilized. He also highlighted that the Rural Development Department Leh achieved a 99.2% expenditure rate in the last financial year and encouraged officials to aim for 100% implementation of ongoing projects.
The tour reflects the administration’s strong commitment to strengthening infrastructure and development in remote and high-altitude areas of Ladakh.
