Kargil: Karsha Block’s outstanding performance in the Aspirational Block Programme (ABP) was celebrated in Kargil, with CEC Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon urging other blocks to adopt the same dedication and strategies to achieve similar success.

Speaking at the concluding ceremony of the Sumpoornata Abhiyaan Samman Samaroh at Syed Mehdi Memorial Hall, Dr. Akhoon praised the Block Development Officer and team for securing second place in the All-India Delta Rankingsunder the Hilly, North-East, and Island category. He called Karsha a model for grassroots development and full saturation of key performance indicators.

The event, organised by the District Administration, was attended by Executive Councillors Er. Punchok Tashi and Kacho Mohammad Feroz, Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Kumar, district officers, Self-Help Group (SHG) members, and other stakeholders.

Dignitaries visited SHG stalls displaying local products. Appreciating their craftsmanship, Dr. Akhoon announced that the locally made “Markhur” cake will be served in all government offices, including the Council Secretariat, to promote the Vocal for Local campaign.

Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Kumar stressed diversifying agriculture and directed the SDM of Sankoo to promote Baghphey cultivation as a second seasonal yield to boost farmers’ incomes.

The event also featured a theatrical performance by the Ranthag Theatre Group on Vocal for Local, which was well received. The BDO of Karsha and his team were honoured with certificates and mementos for their achievement.

Under the NITI Aayog-led ABP, Karsha Block achieved full saturation across 40 Key Performance Indicators, earning the Bronze Award and monetary recognition for the July–September 2024 cycle.

The ceremony concluded with a call for collective efforts to drive holistic development across all blocks in the district.
