Zanskar: Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Rakesh Kumar (IAS), chaired a comprehensive review meeting at the Revenue Complex in Zanskar to assess the pace of ongoing development works and streamline revenue-related operations in the region.
Present in the meeting were SDM Zanskar Mohd Hassan, Executive Engineer R&B Zanskar, Naib Tehsildars of Padum and Lungnaq, along with Girdawar Qanoongos, Patwaris, and other revenue officials.
During the session, the DC directed the R&B Division to ensure that the ground floor of the new Revenue Complex is fully furnished and completed by August 12, 2025. This will allow for the early relocation of the SDM and Tehsil offices, thereby improving public service accessibility and administrative efficiency.
Stressing on transparency and accountability in revenue administration, the DC instructed all revenue field staff to expedite the updation of land records, mutation entries, and girdawari reports. He announced that his next visit will include an in-depth inspection of these processes.
Patwaris were specifically instructed to regularly maintain the Roznamcha (daily diary) and ensure land records are kept in a clean, updated, and transparent manner. The DC emphasized the need for improved infrastructure, stable internet connectivity, and modern facilities to deliver better citizen services.
He also reviewed progress on the construction of Multi-Utility Centres and the issuance of domicile certificates. To improve outreach, the DC directed officials to hold weekly camps across the subdivision to bring essential services closer to the people.
Additionally, in a push for long-term urban planning, the DC instructed the SDM Zanskar to identify designated parking spaces in Padum market and initiate the tendering process, with eventual execution by the Block Development Office.
The visit reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to enhancing governance, transparency, and development in the remote Zanskar region.
