Leh, Mar 12: Two delegations from Zanskar called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, RK Mathur, at Raj Niwas today.

The first delegation led by President, All Zanskar Student Association, Stanzin Idwong, raised several issues, viz. creating the posts of Bhoti teacher in all the government schools of Kargil district, the inclusion of Bhoti language in the 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitution, advertising of jobs at UT-level, introduction of Bhoti subject in all the government schools, introduction of Bhoti in studies at college-level, provision of training in Bhoti language at District Institution of Education and Training (DIET) for research and experimental work in the field of education, etc.

The delegation comprising members of Zaskar Buddhist Association led by President Passang Lhawang, raised issues related to Zanskar sub-division, including merging Rangdum and adjoining areas with Zanskar sub-division for safeguarding its interests and protecting its status and territorial identify; sanctioning of Doksa (highland pastoralism) Development Package for the benefit of the Doksa community and protection of the Doksa system; settlement of the land dispute between various parties in Padum; development of solar power plants for various villages in Zanskar for uninterrupted power supply; improvement and upgradation of traditional Amchi and Sowa Rigpa medicine system and their supply at various Primary Health Center (PHC), New Type Primary Health Centre (NTPHC) and Community Health Centre (CHC); revival, restoration, preservation and maintenance of architecture and heritage sites; sanctioning the construction of irrigation canals from Shila to Zangla, Karsha Youlsum to Pidmo area, Raru Munay and Cha Lunak area and the realignment of Haftal canal; construction of public utility-cum-recreational park at Duzin Photang; the need for implementing town planning for Zanskar sub-division; carrying out plantation drive to increase the green cover; upgradation of sports infrastructure such as football ground, ice hockey rink; construction of internal roads in rural areas from Akshow via Denya arutse, Tankar Toktha to Tungri Zampa and Tungri Zampa to Pidmo, Hanamur village and upgradaton of infrastructure of government schools in Zanskar such as construction of classrooms with passive solar heating facility.
