Kargil, November 4: The School of Agricultural Science and Technology (SAS&T), University of Ladakh, Kargil Campus, organized a Certificate Distribution Ceremony for the first batch of its Basic Agriculture Training Programme, marking a significant milestone in local skill development in the agricultural sector.
The ceremony was graced by Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohammad Jaffer Akhoon, as Chief Guest, and Vice Chancellor, University of Ladakh, Professor Saket Kushwaha, as Guest of Honour. Dean, SAS&T Kargil, Professor Faizan Ahmad, Chief Agriculture Officer Kargil, Ashiq Hussain Basharat, and Dr. Mehboob Ali, Incharge Administration, University of Ladakh, Kargil Campus, were among the dignitaries present.
Congratulating the trainees, Dr. Akhoon lauded the University’s initiative to launch such professional training within Ladakh, noting that earlier, aspirants had to travel to Srinagar for similar courses. He commended the Vice Chancellor’s leadership and encouraged faculty members to continue imparting knowledge with dedication.
Prof. Saket Kushwaha, in his remarks, emphasized the importance of applying learned skills in the field with sincerity and integrity. He praised Dean Faizan Ahmad for successfully introducing and executing the course.
Chief Agriculture Officer, Ashiq Hussain, highlighted the practical benefits of the course, mentioning that completion of the certificate programme was essential for professional increments of gardeners and field workers.
Earlier, Prof. Faizan Ahmad welcomed the guests and elaborated on the objectives and structure of the Basic Agriculture Training Programme. Certificates were distributed among 12 in-service trainees, marking the successful culmination of the course. The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Sherab Dolma.
