Leh, Nov 23: The Union Territory–level Painting Competition on Energy Conservation 2025, organised by NHPC’s Nimoo Bazgo Power Station under the Ministry of Power and the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), brought together young talent from across Ladakh at the DIET Hall, Leh.
Administrative Secretary, School Education Department, Bhanu Prabha, graced the event as the Chief Guest, while HOP Nimoo Bazgo Power Station, Sanjai Kumar Rai, joined as Special Invitee. Director, School Education, Tashi Dolma; ADC Leh, Ghulam Mohd; and CEO Leh, Deldan Angmo, attended as Guests of Honour.
Addressing the gathering, the Administrative Secretary appreciated NHPC for creating a platform that unites students from remote and urban regions alike. She urged parents to encourage children to take part in diverse activities and highlighted how the competition allows students to express concerns about climate change—an issue particularly affecting Ladakh.
Director SED, Tashi Dolma, emphasised that energy conservation is “the need of the hour” and lauded students for conveying powerful messages through their artwork. ADC Leh, Ghulam Mohd, said such events give young participants much-needed exposure and confidence for future pursuits.
HOP Sanjai Kumar Rai thanked the administration and jury, stating that competitions like this help inculcate the habit of energy conservation among children.
A total of 102 students from Leh and Kargil districts participated—51 each in Group A (Classes 5–7) and Group B (Classes 8–10).

1st: Aliya Zainab Jaffri (Sawab Public School Baroo)
2nd: Stanzin Gawa (LPS Leh)
3rd: Stanzin Phantsok (DPS Leh) -
Group B:
1st: Skalzang Lhamo (JNV Leh)
2nd: Stanzin Chosyangs (Druk Padma Karpo Leh)
3rd: Stanzin Gyalpo (JNV Kargil)
Ten consolation prizes were awarded in each group. Winners received ₹50,000, ₹20,000, and ₹10,000 respectively, while each consolation prize carried ₹7,500.
The Education Department ensured participation even from remote areas such as Nyoma and Nubra. The selected winners will now represent Ladakh at the National Level competition in New Delhi in December.
