Kargil, November 4: Students of Government Middle School Gongma Minji captivated the audience with their powerful stage performance, “Jahaan Sapne Sach Lagte Hain”, on the concluding day of a 20-day theatre workshop organized in collaboration with Theatre in Education (T.I.E.) Srinagar, National School of Drama (NSD).
The workshop, led by renowned actor and NSD alumnus Kacho Ahmad Khan, culminated in a thought-provoking play highlighting the delicate bond between humans and animals. The event, held at the Auditorium Hall, was graced by Executive Councillor Zakir Hussain as Chief Guest and Additional Deputy Commissioner Imteeaz Kacho as Guest of Honour.
Written and directed by Dipankar Paul, and assisted by Kacho Ahmad Khan, the play explored themes of coexistence, compassion, and ecological balance. With the central message “Kar Le Dosti”, it urged harmony between humans and wildlife while addressing issues like habitat loss and modern pressures.
The young performers earned applause for their creativity and emotional depth. ADC Imteeaz Kacho lauded the initiative, emphasizing the importance of using art to raise awareness about conservation and discourage harmful encounters with wildlife. He praised ongoing efforts by the Wildlife Department and NGOs in increasing the brown bear population in Kargil.
Councillor Advocate Khadim Hussain commended the T.I.E./NSD team and applauded Kacho Ahmad Khan for bringing theatre-based learning to local schools. The event concluded with felicitations to the NSD team for nurturing local talent and inspiring ecological consciousness through art.
