Kargil, November 24: Karsha Block in Kargil district has achieved a remarkable national milestone by securing the No. 1 rank in the country under NITI Aayog’s Aspirational Block Programme (ABP), outperforming hundreds of blocks across India on key developmental parameters.
The block earned the top position after achieving 100% saturation in 39 Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), with notable progress in critical sectors such as health and nutrition, education, agriculture and allied activities, basic infrastructure, drinking water and sanitation, financial inclusion, and social development.
For this exceptional performance, Karsha Block has been awarded a prize of ₹3 crore, recognising its sustained improvement and effective grassroots implementation.
Deputy Commissioner Kargil congratulated the entire team, praising the coordinated efforts led by Nodal Officer ABP, JD/CPO Abdul Hadi, district officials, block-level teams, frontline workers, self-help groups, and Anganwadi workers. He said the achievement reflects “a model of collaborative governance and people-centric development.”
Officials also noted that Karsha’s success highlights the transformative impact of consistent monitoring, community engagement, and timely delivery of schemes—solidifying Ladakh’s position as a frontrunner in national development initiatives.
