Kargil: Going shoulder to shoulder with rest of the nation GDC Kargil also celebrated 76th Independence Day. The day was celebrated as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav which has been celebrated and commemorated as 75 years of Independence and India’s glorious history of its people, culture and achievements.
The celebrations started early in the morning in the college campus wherein national tricolour was unfurled by chief guest of the occasion, Principal GDC Kargil, Dr Amina Qari in presence of staff, students, NCC cadets and NSS volunteers. The hoisting of flag was followed by national anthem. Dr Amina on the occasion threw some light on the significance of the day and Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

In her address to the attendees Dr Amina emphasised upon the importance of the great day which envisages the birth of a free nation. She asserted that it is the obligation of each and every citizen to safeguard the freedom which became possible only due to the extreme toil and sacrifice of the innumerable freedom fighters. Archo Kaneez, 3rd semester student also spoke on the occasion.

Post tricolour hoisting ceremony staff, students, NCC cadets and NSS volunteers of the college held a Tiranga rally to the War Memorial at Drass where all attendees were briefed about the Kargil War, the Memorial and the museum.
