Kargil, November 19, 2025:
As part of the ongoing 72nd All India Cooperative Week, the Cooperative Department Kargil on Tuesday organised a special event focusing on strengthening and reviving cooperative societies across the district.
The programme was chaired by Deputy Registrar Cooperatives Dr. Sarwar Shahzad and attended by all Assistant Registrar Cooperatives (ARCs), Inspectors, Auditors, Supervisors, other departmental officials, and representatives of various cooperative societies.
In his address, Dr. Shahzad highlighted the growing concern over non-functional and dormant societies, stressing the need for concrete measures to bring them back on track. He urged officials to work closely with cooperative members to ensure better functioning, transparency, and sustainability.
Emphasising the importance of promoting local entrepreneurship, he suggested that all cooperative outlets must prioritise stocking and promoting local products, which he said would boost community-based economic growth.
The event also showcased success stories of performing cooperatives in the district, which were presented as models for other societies aiming to improve their operations. Officials and ARCs engaged in an interactive session, sharing challenges, strategies, and field-level experiences.
The Cooperative Week celebrations aim to reinforce the cooperative movement’s relevance in modern economic development while encouraging collective effort toward strengthening grassroots institutions.
