Leh: On 24.5.22 a complaint was posted on Twitter by one Himanshu Tiwari who alleged that their endeavour car was blocked and attacked with stones by some unknown persons while they were on way from Siachen to Leh and damaged their car. After analysing the tweet, the complainant was contacted and more details were sought by District police Leh.

During the course of enquiry, it came to fore that on 22/5/22, a Black/silver color Tavera (No. JK 02 BW9291 ) which was driven by one Mohd Abdullah engaged in verbal duel with the complainant’s vehicle on the issue of lane blocking while driving from Khardong towards Leh. The verbal spat between the Tavera party and complainant’s party on not giving space to other to drive smoothly continued for short time and later the complainant’s vehicle went ahead.

In the meanwhile, Md Abdullah who was in the Tavera called his friend Tundup Wangyal and said that he was threatened by the complainant by showing a knife for not giving way to the former and he asked Tundup Wangyal to stop the complainant’s car while they are approaching Leh from South Pullu side.

Accordingly, Tundup Wangyal along with 04 other persons namely Stanzin Galdan, Tsewang Norboo, Rigzin Chospail and Rinchen Namgyal stationed themselves short of South pullu and were waiting for the complainant’s vehicle to come. While the vehicle approached, the other party shouted at them and damaged their car by thrashing the rear wind shield with sticks and stones. Meanwhile accused Md Abdullah along with 02 labourers accompanying him, namely Tun Tun kumar and Ajay Kumar also came and hurled abuses on them.

Somehow the complainant along with 02 others got frightened and drove fast towards Leh, however the complainant didn’t inform about this incident to police even when they reached Leh and directly posted about the incident on Twitter. The complainants were again contacted and were requested to give a formal complaint, but they categorically refused to register FIR.

Even with the limited information available, district police Leh identified all the accused persons and necessary preventive action under law has been initiated against all of them.

District Police Leh requests the tourists and general public to avoid road rash and inform police through DIAL 112 instead of taking law in their hands.
