Kargil, November 24, 2025: A delegation led by Choskore Councillor Nasir Hussain Munshi met Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, on Monday, urging immediate suspension of construction activities at Saldasthang, citing potential adverse impact on traditional grazing land.
The delegation informed the CEC that the area has long served as a vital grazing ground for local livestock, and that ongoing construction work could disrupt the livelihood of herders who depend on the site for seasonal pasture.
CEC Akhoon gave a patient hearing to the representatives and assured that the concerns raised by the community would be given due consideration. He announced that a review meeting will be convened on Tuesday with Deputy Commissioner Kargil, ACR, Tehsildar, and other relevant officials to examine the issue in detail.
He further assured the delegation that any decision taken would balance developmental priorities with public sentiment, ensuring that a practical and mutually acceptable solution is arrived at.
