Bhoti language to be introduced in Ladakh schools; LAHDC Leh adopts TLMs

Leh: Under the Chairmanship of the CEC, LAHDC Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson, a meeting of the Executive Council was held today to adopt the introduction of Teaching Learning Material (TLM) in the Bhoti language for all the schools of Leh, Ladakh.

Dy Chairman/EC Education, Tsering Angchuk; EC Minority, Ghulam Mehdi; EC RDD, Tashi Namgyal Yakzee; EC Agriculture, Stanzin Chosphel, and DC/CEO LAHDC Leh, Shrikant Suse attended the meeting. The meeting was also joined by Chief Education Officer Leh, SD Namgyal; DEPO Leh, Principal DIET, Zonal Education Officers, and Cultural Officer, Ladakh Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Leh.

It was decided during the meeting that the School Education Department, LAHDC Leh would adopt Bhoti language TLMs in the curriculums of all schools within the district. Furthermore, a consultative committee would be constituted to review and exercise the implementation and standardisation of TLMs, Workbooks, and Handwriting Notebooks in the Bhoti language for the schools.

During the meeting, CEC Gyalson also lauded the efforts of Ven Stanzin Nurbo for his efforts in preparing the TLMs in Bhoti languages.

CEC Gyalson also directed the concerned officials to ensure the replacement of existing signages in all schools (Govt. and Private run) with bilingual signages having Bhoti and English within 15 days.

Strengthening of Bhoti language by encouraging youths, especially school-going children, and certain agendas regarding the celebration of Bhoti language day from next year onward as decided by the Hill Council earlier this year were also discussed.
