Khaltse, November 27, 2025:
A one-day capacity-building programme under the SAANS (Social Awareness and Actions to Neutralize Pneumonia Successfully) initiative was held today at the Community Health Centre (CHC) Khaltse, aimed at strengthening the frontline workforce in early detection and effective management of childhood pneumonia.
The training was conducted under the chairmanship of BMO Khaltse, Dr. Shamim Ahmad, and featured Dr. Spalchen Gonbo, Consultant Paediatrician, as the key resource person. Dr. Gonbo delivered detailed sessions on updated treatment guidelines, case management, and demonstrated practical techniques to handle pneumonia cases more efficiently.
A total of 50 health workers from the block participated, including 35 Female Multi-Purpose Health Workers (FMPHWs) and 15 Community Health Officers (CHOs). The programme emphasised hands-on learning, case-based discussions, and interactive exercises to enhance community-level response to pneumonia.
Participants showed enthusiastic involvement throughout the training, underscoring their commitment to strengthening child healthcare and reducing pneumonia-related morbidity in the region.
