Kargil, November 26:
Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd. Jaffer Akhoon, today presided over a ceremony to distribute free laptops to meritorious students of Classes 10 and 12 under the LAHDC Subsidy Scheme, reaffirming the Council’s commitment to strengthening education across the district.
The event, held in the presence of Deputy Commissioner and CEO LAHDC Kargil Rakesh Kumar, Chief Education Officer Kargil, students and parents, celebrated academic achievers and highlighted ongoing reforms in the education sector.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Akhoon congratulated the students and their parents, calling the achievement a “significant milestone” in their academic journey. He said LAHDC Kargil is working tirelessly to ensure quality education, equal opportunities, and improved learning resources for students across the district.
The CEC noted that initiatives such as remedial classes and hostel facilities have contributed to improved performance in government schools. He added that a holistic and transparent transfer policy for teachers has been drafted to safeguard academic interests and will soon be implemented.
Appreciating the district administration, Dr. Akhoon praised DC Rakesh Kumar for the transparent conduct of DSSRB Class 12 recruitment examinations, expressing confidence that upcoming exams will maintain the same fairness and efficiency.
Speaking at the event, DC Rakesh Kumar said the administration, in collaboration with LAHDC, is focused on promoting logic-based, concept-driven education. He announced the launch of Kargil Digital Classes, where teachers and lecturers are recording topic-wise video lessons to be provided free of cost to students. The initiative aims to boost clarity, strengthen understanding, and improve academic outcomes.
The DC also lauded the Education Department for its pivotal role in the district’s educational progress.
Under the LAHDC Subsidy Scheme, the Education Department has distributed around 42 laptops every year during 2022–23, 2023–24 and 2024–25, enabling meritorious students to access digital learning tools and expand their academic capabilities.
