Zanskar, November 6, 2025: In a major boost to rural infrastructure and community development, Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Er. Phunchok Tashi inaugurated newly constructed Community Halls at Phay, Tungri, and Langmi villages under Karsha constituency today.
The Community Hall at Phay was constructed by the Rural Development Department (RDD), Tungri by the Public Works Department (R&B), and Langmi by RDD. These projects, executed under the leadership of Hon’ble Councillor Stanzin Jigmath and Er. Tashi, EC Zanskar, reflect a shared commitment to inclusive and equitable development across the region.
The halls—envisioned as vibrant spaces for social gatherings, meetings, and cultural programs—were completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 80 lakh (Phay), Rs. 1.50 crore (Tungri), and Rs. 1.63 crore (Langmi).
The inauguration ceremonies were attended by Councillor Stanzin Jigmath, BDO Zanskar Sh. Ali Yabgo, Executive Engineer ZDA/R&B Er. Vilayat Ali, AEE REW Samina Ali, and village representatives, along with a large gathering of locals and monks.
In his address, Er. Phunchok Tashi expressed satisfaction over the timely completion of the projects, emphasizing that such community spaces will foster unity, cultural engagement, and social harmony. He reaffirmed that LAHDC Kargil and the UT Administration remain committed to strengthening public amenities and ensuring balanced development across Zanskar’s remote villages.
He further urged residents of Phay, Tungri, and Langmi to take collective responsibility for maintaining these assets, ensuring their longevity and proper use.
Speaking on the occasion, Councillor Stanzin Jigmath lauded the leadership of Er. Phunchok Tashi, highlighting that the successful execution of these projects was made possible through strong coordination between local representatives and departments, demonstrating the power of teamwork in driving rural progress.
