Kargil, November 4, 2025:
An interactive session on “Employment and Entrepreneurship Opportunities in the Solar Sector for Ex-Servicemen” was held today at the Conference Hall of the Cooperative Department, Kargil.
The programme was presided over by Ms. Bhanu Prabha (IAS), Administrative Secretary, Technical Education & Skill Development Department, Ladakh, and attended by ADC Kargil Imteeaz Kacho, Captain (IN) A.K. Pawar, Zila Sainik Welfare Officer, officials from the Power Development Department, and other stakeholders.
Ms. Prabha emphasized the need for job-oriented skill training to boost employability among ex-servicemen and their families. She proposed launching a 45-day Solar Technician Course across different regions, highlighting Ladakh’s vast potential in solar energy.
She announced that around 1,000 candidates will be trained under various vocational programmes — including solar technology, tailoring, bakery, mushroom cultivation, plumbing, and electrical works — to promote self-reliance. She also informed that 12 model villages have been selected for implementing solar projects to support sustainable development.
During the interaction, Ms. Prabha addressed participants’ queries regarding training and employment prospects in the renewable energy sector.
ADC Kargil Imteeaz Kacho appreciated the initiative, noting that ex-servicemen have always played a vital role in supporting national and local programmes. He said that such training opportunities would not only benefit ex-servicemen but also empower their families through skill enhancement.
