The Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Leh, today inaugurated its new Council Secretariat Building in Leh. The ceremony was graced by the Hon’ble Chairman/CEC, LAHDC Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson, who formally unveiled the new office complex in the august presence of Hon’ble Deputy Chairman, Shri Tsering Angchuk; Hon’ble Executive Councillors, Shri Ghulam Mehdi, Shri Tashi Namgyal Yakzee, and Shri Stanzin Chosphel; Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC Leh, Shri Romil Singh Donk, IAS; along with the Hon’ble Councillors of the 6th LAHDC Leh.
The occasion was graced by prominent dignitaries, including Former Member of Parliament and the first Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor of the Cabinet, Shri Thupstan Chhewang; President, Ladakh Buddhist Association and Former CEC, Shri Tsering Dorjey Lakrook; BJP State President, Shri Tashi Gyalson Khachu; Former Chief Executive Councillors, Shri Rigzin Spalbar and Shri Gyal P. Wangyal; Former MLA, Shri Tsering Samphel; President, Anjuman Imamia, Shri Ashraf Ali Barcha; President, Anjuman Moin-ul-Islam, Dr. Abdul Qayum; Imam, Jamia Masjid Leh, Moulvi Omar Naqvi; President, Christian Association, Shri Sonam Parvez; President, All Gompa Association, Ven. Dorjie Stanzin; President Majlis E Ulema Leh, Alhaj Shiek Zainul Abidin; President, Ladakh Buddhist Association Women Wing, Smt. Kunzes Dolma Jawo; President, Women Wing of Anjuman Imamia, Smt. Nasreen Maryam; President, Anjuman Moin-ul-Islam Women Wing, Smt. Aisha Malo; and President, Women’s Wing of the Christian Association, Smt. Sumita Dana.
Senior officials of the district administration and line departments were present, including ACD Leh A.G. Zargar; Additional District Development Commissioner, Shri Sonam Norboo; Chief Controller Finance, Dr. Zulfiqar Ali; Chief Planning Officer, Shri Tsewang Gyalson; Superintendent Engineer, PWD, Shri Dorjey Gyatso; CMO Dr. Dolma Chuskit; Executive Engineers of various departments; ASP Leh, Shri Rigzin Sangdup; Deputy Secretary, Culture, Shri Tsewang Paljor; MS Dr. Rinchen Chosdol and DYSSO, Shri Tsering Tashi along with other officials.
In a deeply spiritual gesture, Sangay Dorjey Tulku Rinpoche arrived early in the morning to offer his prayers at the site, invoking blessings for the well-being of the people of Ladakh and the smooth working of the Council from its new premises. His presence set a serene and auspicious tone for the day’s proceedings.
Before the formal unveiling, prayers were offered by representatives of the Buddhist, Christian, and Islamic communities, seeking blessings for peace, harmony, and the smooth functioning of the new Secretariat. The collective prayers by faith leaders reflected Ladakh’s enduring spirit of unity in diversity and lent a solemn sanctity to the historic occasion.
Following the inauguration, the dignitaries and officials toured the new Secretariat complex to get a first-hand view of the facilities. They inspected the various sections of the building, appreciating its modern infrastructure and functional design, which is expected to greatly enhance the efficiency of Council operations and public service delivery.
The inauguration of the new LAHDC Secretariat Building marks a landmark moment in Ladakh’s democratic journey. Standing as a symbol of grassroots governance, the new Secretariat will serve as a vital institution for policy-making, administration, and public service delivery in the region, reinforcing the Council’s commitment to the aspirations of the people of Ladakh.
