Leh: Under the patronage of Chief Justice Shri Arun Palli and guidance of Justice Sindhu Sharma, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Leh, led by Member Secretary and Chairman Shri Manoj Parihar and Secretary Ms. Phuntsog Angmo, conducted an awareness-cum-celebration program on the NALSA (Protection and Enforcement of Tribal Rights) Scheme and World Tribal Day at Govt Higher Secondary School, Turtuk, Nubra.
The program began with an introduction to the NALSA scheme by Advocate Zulekha Bano, followed by a presentation on the history and culture of the Balti tribe by Shri Inayatullah, Numberdar of Turtuk. Ms. Phuntsog Angmo detailed various legal aid schemes available for tribals and women.
Students from GHSS Turtuk and GHSS Tyakshi performed cultural dances representing Balti and Ladakhi traditions.
Chairman DLSA Leh Shri Manoj Parihar updated the audience on the recent North Zone Conference held by the High Court, emphasizing tribal rights and the launch of new welfare schemes for tribal communities. Certificates were distributed to participants and meritorious students. The Principal of GHSS Turtuk urged students to understand their legal rights.
Various stalls showcasing tribal products and Balti cuisine were arranged in collaboration with the “Raichan Farol” Local Women Self Help Group.
Advocate Mohd Nazir conducted the program proceedings, and the event concluded with a vote of thanks by Lakshay Badyal, Chairman TLSC Nubra/Mobile Magistrate Leh.
Additionally, the Principal District Judge Leh inspected the Munsiff Court Nubra, Legal Aid Clinics at Turtuk, Bogdang, and the Front Desk at Diskit.
