Kargil: Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC Kargil, Rakesh Kumar, IAS, conducted an extensive on-site review of key power infrastructure in the Zanskar region, including the Haftal Power House, Raru Electrical Station, and the Takkar 11 KV line.
At Haftal Power House, the DC assessed ongoing canal-related works critical for efficient plant operation. He directed the Chief Project Engineer to ensure the completion of the canal by the end of August, underscoring the importance of timely delivery to strengthen local power generation.
Inspecting the Raru Electrical Station, the Deputy Commissioner took note of persistent line fault issues and instructed officials to explore viable solutions—such as cable replacement or installation of a parallel line—to guarantee stable electricity supply to the region.
At Takkar, where the 11 KV line is prone to disruptions due to construction activities, the DC directed the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) and concerned departments to carry out blasting operations only in consultation with Junior Engineers and technical staff, and to ensure immediate restoration of the power line post-blasting to avoid public inconvenience.
During the visit, Rakesh Kumar also interacted with residents of Itcher village, patiently heard their grievances, and assured timely redressal of their concerns.
The visit aimed to accelerate fault rectification, improve coordination among departments, and ensure smoother power delivery to remote areas of Zanskar.
