Kargil: On the occasion of International Day Against Child Labour, the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) Kargil, in collaboration with the Special Juvenile Police Unit Kargil (SJPU), Juvenile Justice Board Kargil (JJB) and the Child Helpline Kargil (1098), conducted a joint inspection drive across various industrial sites at Kurbathang and adjoining areas.
The team visited workshops, garages, eateries, and other commercial establishments to identify instances of child labour and raise awareness about child protection laws, especially the Child and Adolescent Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, 1986 and Juvenile Justice Act 2015.
Employers and locals were sensitized on the harmful impact of child labour and encouraged to support children’s right to education and protection.
DCPU Kargil, highlighted the need for collective responsibility in safeguarding children’s rights and called upon the public to report any such cases through the 1098 helpline and Pencil Portal.
