Khaltsi: The Zonal Level Inter-School Tournament for High and Higher Secondary Schools of Khaltsi Zone (for both boys and girls) concluded Saturday at Government Higher Secondary School, Khaltsi.
The tournament was organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), Leh.
The event saw participation from 10 High Schools and 5 Higher Secondary Schools, with around 325 students—both boys and girls—from various government and private schools competing in the tournament.
Block Development Officer (BDO) Khaltsi, Pankaj Rajput attended the closing ceremony as the chief guest, along with other distinguished guests.
The event began with a welcome address by Tsewang Rigzin, Physical Education Master and Incharge of DYSS.
In his address, BDO Rajput congratulated the school incharges and coaches for encouraging student participation in sports. He urged them to continue motivating students to compete at district and national levels, emphasizing the importance of sports in overall development.
Students participated in a variety of sports events including Archery, Volleyball, Handball, 100-meter race, and 5000-meter race.
One of the highlights of the event was the final handball match played between Higher Secondary School Beema (boys) and Higher Secondary School Khaltsi (boys), in which the Khaltsi team emerged victorious.
Prizes, medals, and certificates were distributed by the BDO to the winners and participants. The event also featured vibrant cultural performances by students from High School Domkhar Gongma, Higher Secondary School Skurbuchan, and High School Hemis Shukpachan.
Teachers and Physical Education instructors were present in large numbers to support and encourage the participants, making the event a grand success.
