JAMMU: National Statistics Office, Regional Office Jammu organized one day Camp for Self-Compilation of Returns on Annual Survey Industries 2023-24 on Wednesday in the BBIA Industrial Area Bari Brahmana.

National Statistics Office (Field Operations Division), Government India under Ministry Statistics & Programme Implementation is conducting survey on Annual Survey of Industries.

This Camp on Self Compilation was organized to sensitize the business associations about self-compilation of Statistical Return by the business entities.

A session of hand holding training was organized in which Senior Statistical Officers gave the training to Industrial Unit of Bari Brahmana.

After the Welcome address by R. K. Sharma, Assistant Director, the Conference was inaugurated, by P. Palanivel, Deputy Director General, NSO (FOD), UT of J&K. In his inaugural speech, broad overviews about the objectives, scope, coverage on the Annual Survey of Industries were highlighted.

Further, P. Palanivel in his address spoke about the inception of Annual Survey of Industries since 1960 and told that it was previously, conducted under the Collection of Statistics Act 1953.

He further added that presently the Survey is conducted under the collection of Statistics Act, 2008 as amended in 2017 under the rules framed there under in 2011. DDG also addressed that ASI is designed to obtain comprehensive and detailed data with the objective of estimating the contribution of Registered Manufacturing Sector as-a-whole to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the country.

The Conference was attended by around 20 representatives from various Industrial Units of District Samba where there is maximum concentration of Industrial Units. Conference was also attended by Sr. Statistical Officers of RO Jammu who are presently engaged in the field work of ASI.

The overall Coordination/Comparing of this Camp was done by Rajesh Kumar, NSO (FOD), RO Jammu & self-compilation training to industrial Units was given by other Senior Statistical Officers, of NSSO (FOD) RO Jammu. At the end vote of thanks, was presented by Swaran Lal, Asst. Director, NSO, Jammu.
