Leh: Asserting that scores of snow-clearing machines have been procured since it became Union Territory, Commissioner Secretary Ajeet Kumar Sahu said that in coming days people will able to enjoy in Ladakh.

In an Exclusive conversation with Indus Dispatch, Commissioner Secretary Ajeet Kumar Sahu shared insights about initiatives taken so far to make like easy during winters in Ladakh.

“You all know Ladakh is snow bound area and even Zojilla cut off from rest of country during winters. Apart from this, we also face problems in internal roads.,” he said.

He added Union Territory administration has taken several initiatives as scores of snow clearing machines have been purchased.

“In last 2-3 years, around 70 snow clearing machines have been procured. This helped us keep internal roads open throught the year,” he said.

“Since last 2 years Kargil-Zanskar Road remain opened throughout year, which was earlier remained closed for at least six months,” he said.

“We have not received much success in previous year but last year the road was closed on the day of snowfall,” he said.

He further informed that he had travelled on the road during winter to inspect arrangements.

He said this will not only help the people of Zanskar but will also boot economy of Kargil.

“The arrangement will also enhance the influx of tourists because travelling on the long road amid snow is best experience,” he said.

Moreover, he said that the administration has placed order of six snow cutter machines and this will further help in snow clearance process.
