Zanskar Festival: Day-long singing, music, paper presentation, poetry symposium held

Zanskar Festival: Day-long singing, music, paper presentation, poetry symposium held

Kargil: Ladakh Academy of Art Culture and Languages in collaboration with Government Model Degree College, Zanskar Thursday organized a day-long children singing and music competition.

Dr Abid Hussain officiating principal welcomed the guest and students. SDM Zanskar, Sonam Dorjay who was the chief guest on the occasion also addressed the occasion.

The grand event also comprised poetry symposium and paper presentation. More than seventy students from different schools of Zanskar Sub Division participated in the event.

Deputy Secretary LAACL Nazir Hussain and Assistant Director Tourism Kargil, Syed Toha and other Sub Divisional officers were also present on the occasion.

Schools that took part in the event included Higher Secondary Padum and Phey, Duzin Photang School, SECPAD School, Lamdon Model High School, Jamyangling Model School, High School Karsha, Zangla, Eicher, and Marpaling Middle School. Additionally, students from Government Degree College Zanskar participated in the competitions.

In the painting competition, Stanzin Lakdan from Duzin Photang School secured the first position, while Tsering Dolma from GMDC Zanskar and Stanzin Spalbar from Government High School Zangla were awarded the second and third positions, respectively.

Likewise, in the music competition, Stanzin Konchok from Lamdon Model High School Ufti secured the third position, while Tashi Chuskit from Duzin Photang School claimed the second position.

The first position was jointly shared by Stanzin Tantar of Government High school Karsha and Thinlay Namgyal CERPAD School.

The event also featured a literary session where numerous poets from Zanskar Sub Division presented their literary compositions. Additionally, over five scholars presented papers on various subjects, including social, cultural, historical, and other aspects of Zanskar.

The event concluded with the distribution of prizes and certificates to the victorious students who participated in the competition.
