Leh: A three-day Entrepreneurship Awareness Program (EAP) kicked off today at the University of Ladakh’s Leh campus, aimed at nurturing innovation and self-employment among Ladakhi youth.
Organised under the Enterprising Ladakh initiative by the Department of Higher Education, UT Ladakh, the program is being implemented by the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), Ahmedabad. The initiative is part of a broader push by the UT administration to create a culture of enterprise and skill development among students.
The program was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Prof. Saket Kushwaha, who welcomed participants and emphasised the importance of entrepreneurship in building a resilient Ladakh. The sessions are designed to guide youth through key aspects of starting and sustaining a business—from ideation and financial literacy to product development and sustainability.
On the opening day, participants engaged with sessions led by experts including Tsering Dorjey (NABARD), Abhishake Nandan, Rigzin Wangdus, and Fariha Fatima from EDII. The second day saw hands-on demonstrations on product packaging and sustainable business models by guest entrepreneurs Bijendra Singh (IRHS Pvt. Ltd.) and Nidhi Verma (Intelismart Energy Solutions).
Backed by the UT administration and supported by key leadership including the Lieutenant Governor, Chief Secretary Dr. Pawan Kotwal, and Education Secretary Bhanu Prabha, the Enterprising Ladakh program will extend its outreach to all seven districts in coming months.
With its emphasis on real-world skills and local relevance, the initiative aims to create a pipeline of job creators rather than job seekers—shaping the future of Ladakh’s economy from the ground up.
