LEH: In the run-up to the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY) to be celebrated on 21 June 2025, a series of yoga sessions were conducted across the regions of Ladakh, reaffirming the Union Territory’s commitment to holistic health and well-being.
On 5 June 2025, Yoga sessions were organized at multiple locations including the Health and Wellness Center (HWC) Sumdha, Gya village, and the renowned Hemis Monastery.
These events were part of a broader initiative led by the Directorate of AYUSH and the National AYUSH Mission, aiming to integrate yoga into everyday community life and promote a culture of positive change and collective well-being.
At HWC Sumdha, the session was conducted by Yoga Instructor Phunchok Dolma from PHC Basgo. Meanwhile, in Gya village, residents actively participated in a community session designed to make yoga accessible even in remote areas.
A highlight of the day was the vibrant session held at Hemis Monastery and the AAM Centre in Hemis village.
Conducted by Padma Dachen, Yoga Instructor at PHC Sakti, the session saw participation from monks of the monastery and AAM staff. Padma encouraged all participants to adopt daily yoga practice as a foundation for a healthy lifestyle.
These sessions mark a significant step in bringing the ancient practice of yoga to the “roof of the world,” fostering both physical health and spiritual harmony in the high-altitude.
