KARGIL: With the emphasis on oral Health & Hygiene the Department of Dental Community Health Center Sankoo, Kargil Celebrated World Oral Health Day 2024 at Government High School Thasgam Sankoo, Kargil under National Oral Health Programme (NOHP) Organised by District Health Society Kargil Union Territory of Ladakh to raise awareness of the issues around oral health and the importance of oral hygiene.
The theme for World Oral Health Day is A Happy Mouth Is… A Happy Body. On this occasion, Dr Najuma Banoo Dental Surgeon, Abdul Hadi Wazir (Dental Assistant) Teaching staff and large number of students were also present.
During the program, oral health care awareness was conducted for the students.
While described the need and importance of dental health and demonstrated various brushing and cleaning techniques.
Further She explained the impact of oral health on overall health and the role of a balanced diet in maintaining a good health and hygiene.
World Oral Health Day is observed annually to raise global awareness of the issues around oral health and the importance of oral hygiene. Later Free tooth and toothpaste brushes were also distributed among the participants.
Similarly, on the Occasion of World Oral Health Day, Block Medical Officer Sankoo Community Health Center Organised Dental Health Awareness Camp at Govt. Middle School Thangzur Trespone in Collaboration with District Health Society Kargil UT Ladakh.

During the program Dr Ashiq Hussain Dental Surgeon and team provided the Services like;
Education: Awareness sessions were conducted through PPT and video Animations to educate attendees about proper oral hygiene practices (Brushing Technique) the importance of regular dental check-ups, and the effects of poor oral health on overall health.
Dental Check-ups : “40” Participants received thorough dental check-ups by Dr. Ashiq Hussain Dental Surgeon. Common dental issues such as cavities, gum disease, and oral hygiene were examined.
Treatment: Basic dental treatments such as cleaning, filling, extraction were provided on-site.
Distribution of Oral Care Products: Students were provided with free toothbrushes, toothpaste to encourage and facilitate good oral hygiene practices. Later Dr. Ashiq Hussain expressed thanks to the School Management for their overall corporation.
