World Glaucoma Week celebrated across Ladakh

Leh: World Glaucoma Week was celebrated across all Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (Health and Wellness Centers) in the Union Territory of Ladakh, highlighting the theme “Uniting for a Glaucoma-Free World.”

Organized by all health facilities of UT Ladakh, the week-long event aimed to raise awareness about glaucoma, its signs, symptoms, and preventive measures, while also providing screening services to the community.

Throughout the week, various awareness activities were conducted at Ayushman Arogya Mandira, focusing on educating the public about the importance of early detection and management of glaucoma.

Healthcare professionals provided valuable information about the disease and offered guidance on how individuals can protect their vision through regular eye check-ups and adopting healthy lifestyle habits.

In addition to awareness sessions, screening camps were organized to assess individuals for signs of glaucoma and other eye-related conditions. The screenings aimed to identify at-risk individuals early on and facilitate timely interventions to prevent vision loss and improve eye health outcomes.

The participation and engagement of community members during the World Glaucoma Week celebrations underscored the significance of promoting eye health awareness and the importance of preventive care.

By uniting efforts to combat glaucoma, UT Ladakh continues its commitment to building a healthier and glaucoma-free community.
