World Environment Day celebrated at Shargole, Shakar Chiktan

Kargil: World Environment Day was celebrated Monday in both Tehsil Shargole and Shakar Chiktan of Sub-Division Shakar Chiktan in which all the officers/officials, PRI members and some citizens along with students participated.

In Shakar Chiktan, the program was started from SDM office, highlighting the day’s importance. It was followed by a pledge by SDM and plantation drive at four locations i.e. SDM Office, ZEO Office, KGBV School and Govt. Middle School Khardoon.

Thereafter all the participants including the students took part in an awareness rally-cum-cleanliness drive from SDM Office and culminated at Hr. Sec. School Chiktan for about 22 km.

In between brief awareness was held for the shopkeepers at Main Market Khardoon and Manglishon Chiktan under the supervision of the SDM.

A similar program was conducted at Tehsil Shargole, which commenced from PHC Shargole where the Tehsildar Shargole took pledge of cleanliness followed by a cleanliness drive from PHC Shargole to Hr. Sec. School Shargole.

A plantation drive was also held at PHC and HSS Shargole followed by cleanliness drive-cum-awareness rally. The program ended at Hr. Sec. School Shargole.
