Kargil, Feb 7:
The AN-32 Kargil Courier Service resumed operations for the winter season on Friday, restoring vital air connectivity for residents of the region during harsh weather conditions.
The Indian Air Force crew was warmly received at Kargil by Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Kacho Mohd Feroz, along with Deputy Commissioner Kargil Rakesh Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner Imteeaz Kacho and Assistant Commissioner Development Shafiq Ahmed.
Officials lauded the Indian Air Force for consistently operating the winter courier service, stating that it provides crucial support to passengers, particularly elderly citizens, patients requiring medical treatment in Jammu and Srinagar, and students.
At Srinagar, the aircraft crew was welcomed by Chief Coordinator Kargil Courier Service Aamir Ali, Airport Director Srinagar Javed Anjum, and officials from the Airports Authority of India, CISF, AIASL and liaison staff.
On the first day of operations, 29 passengers were airlifted from Kargil to Srinagar, while 53 passengers, including children and infants, travelled from Srinagar to Kargil.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner, accompanied by the Additional Deputy Commissioner, inspected arrangements at Kargil Airport, reviewing security checks, frisking procedures, ticket verification, luggage scanning and boarding facilities. He directed concerned departments to ensure smooth, safe and efficient operation of the courier service throughout the winter season.
