Villagers voluntarily clear blocked road in Latoo Village

Kargil: For the social cause, the Villagers of Latoo village at the LOC in Kargil cleared the road blockage voluntarily Sunday.

The road was blocked due to landslides and shooting stones amid heavy snow melting water discharge/flash flood caused heavy water accumulation.

Sensing the situation causing problems to pedestrians and commuters, the local residents took the initiative and firmly cleared the road stretch.

Minutes after the local volunteers cleared the road traffic was through on the stretch.

Lamberdar  and Panch Latoo were also present during the road clearance and also helped in the voluntary deed.

After snowfall and heavy winter, the majority of roads are blocked across the Kargil district. However the administration has been making efforts to restore the traffic movement on the roads.

Early in the day, Sub Divisional Magistrate Zanskar, Sonam Dorjay visited Kamal Nallah to monitor the restoration work of Karsha Pishu road.

On receiving information regarding the blockage of the Karsha-Pishu link road, the SDM directed the Mechanical Department and PWD for restoration of the link road immediately.
