New Delhi, December 17, 2025:
Veteran India commemorated Vijay Diwas 2025, marking the 54th anniversary of India’s historic victory in the 1971 Indo-Pak War, with patriotic fervour at the NDMC Convention Centre, New Delhi. The event paid rich tribute to the brave soldiers whose sacrifices led to the liberation of Bangladesh, while also recognising outstanding contributions in the fields of sports and education.
On the occasion, Shanaz Parveen, Physical Education Teacher at Druk Padma Karpo Higher Secondary School, Ladakh, was conferred the Patriotic Sports Ambassador Award for her exceptional work in promoting grassroots sports in remote and high-altitude regions.
Hailing from Ladakh, Shanaz Parveen has been a relentless advocate of sports among underprivileged youth, overcoming extreme climatic conditions, limited infrastructure and logistical challenges to nurture talent at the grassroots level. Her efforts have helped transform difficult terrains into platforms of opportunity, inspiring young athletes to pursue excellence in sports.
Veteran India officials said the award recognises individuals who embody patriotism through nation-building activities beyond the battlefield. “Shanaz Parveen’s dedication reflects the spirit of Vijay Diwas—service, resilience and commitment to the nation,” they said.
The celebration reaffirmed Veteran India’s mission to honour both the valour of India’s armed forces and the silent contributors shaping the country’s future, especially in far-flung regions like Ladakh.
