Leh: A MoU was signed between Sham Vegetable and Fruit Growers Marketing Cooperative Society Ltd, Nimoo and Mother Dairy Private Limited.

In a historic move, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Mother Dairy Food & Vegetable Private Limited and Sham Vegetable and Fruit Growers Cooperative Marketing and Processing Society Limited, Nimoo in the presence of Chairman/CEC, LAHDC Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson and Chairman Mother Dairy, Dr Meenesh Shah in the Council Secretariat.

The MoU was signed to collaborate in providing market access to fresh apricots, sea buckthorn, and other fruits and vegetables (F&V) produced by farmers in Leh, aiming to improve their market reach and economic opportunities.

Mother Dairy was represented by Jayatheertha Charry, Dy MD and the Cooperative Society was represented by Tsewang Rinchen, President,Sham Vegetable and Fruit Growers Cooperative Marketing Society Ltd.

Both agencies will collaborate to enhance the value of fruit and vegetable products from Leh, ensuring fair and remunerative returns for farmers in Ladakh. They will also focus on promoting exclusive Ladakhi product across India, thereby boosting local economy and visibility.

CEC Gyaltson suggested enhancing milk products such as ice-cream and flavored milk by incorporating sea buckthorn to create uniquely flavored options.

The Executive Councillor Cooperative, Stanzin Chosphel ,Deputy Registrar Cooperative,Dr Mohd Abass and other officials from Mother Dairy, NDDB and Cooperative Department and Officials from Cooperative Society attended the event.
