Leh, February 17: Reaffirming the administration’s commitment to addressing public concerns, the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Shri Kavinder Gupta, on Monday assured timely intervention on key issues raised by various delegations at the LG Secretariat.
Delegations representing different parts of Ladakh called on the Lt Governor and highlighted matters related to employment, infrastructure development and tourism promotion.
A delegation led by Member of Parliament from Ladakh, Mohmad Haneefa Jan, discussed several pressing issues concerning the region. Former Councillors Tsering Sandup and Kunzang Lotus, representing Nubra, flagged development challenges in the sub-division and sought focused intervention.
From Zanskar, Skalzang Namgyal Gara raised development-related matters concerning Pipiting. Another delegation from Bogdang and Turtuk, led by former Executive Councillor Ghulam Mehdi along with Councillor Tsering Sandup, also submitted demands pertaining to infrastructure and local development.
The Lt Governor gave a patient hearing to all delegations and assured that their concerns would be addressed in a time-bound manner. Highlighting Ladakh’s vast tourism potential—particularly in Nubra Valley and Changthang—he said the Administration is actively working to promote border and rural tourism.
He emphasized that exploring new destinations and strengthening tourism infrastructure will not only boost the rural economy but also create sustainable livelihood opportunities for the people of Ladakh.
