Leh, Dec 5, 2025: The Stakna Campus of the University of Ladakh celebrated World Soil Day with great enthusiasm, bringing together students, faculty, and staff from the School of Agricultural Sciences and Technology.
The event was moderated by Dr. Kunzang Lamo, Assistant Professor (Fruit Science), and opened with an insightful briefing by Dr. Padma Angmo, Assistant Professor (Soil Science), who highlighted the contributions of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand in promoting soil conservation and explained this year’s theme, “Healthy Soil for Healthy Cities.”
A lively quiz competition featuring Team Dokuchaev, Team Jenny, and Team Liebig tested participants through MCQs and rapid-fire rounds. Team Jenny emerged victorious, scoring 11 points, with prizes distributed by Prof. D. Namgyal, who also emphasized the importance of soil health and conservation methods, urging students to broaden their knowledge beyond textbooks.
The celebration concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Dr. Stanzin Yangsdon, Assistant Professor (Extension Education), marking the day as a vibrant learning experience for all participants.
