Leh: The Medical Department Leh conducted a training session for Medical Officers and AFHC Counsellors at the CMO office.
The session featured presentations by Nutritionist Rigzen Yangdol and Gender Specialist Deachen Angmo from the State Hub for Empowerment of Women, Mission Shakti.
Rigzen Yangdol, the nutritionist, addressed the importance of nutrition during adolescence, highlighting key topics such as nutrient components, dietary diversification, healthy eating habits, and the recommended dietary allowance for adolescents. Topics covered also included balanced diets, healthy lifestyle practices, and food hygiene.
Deachen Angmo focused on understanding gender, gender-based violence, and strategies to counter stereotypes and discrimination.
The session aimed to develop awareness of gender identities, challenge stereotypes, and promote gender equality in various spheres of life. Activities included discussions, film screenings, and interactive exercises to address gender-based discrimination and violence.
The training emphasized the role of medical professionals in promoting holistic health and addressing societal issues such as nutrition and gender equality. Through these sessions, participants gained valuable insights and skills to better serve their communities.
